Whether human action has caused a difference in the temperature yet or not is pretty academic. The high level of oxygen in the atmosphere was created (released actually) as the organic matter that produces fossil fuels was deposited in ancient oceans without being oxidized. As we extract and burn the fossil fuels we bind the oxygen back up (into CO2) and it is no longer available for us to breathe. The end point of this dissertation is that we need to begin to develop and use alternate energy sources and we need to plan for the end or fossil fuel use. And we need to do this sooner rather than later even though it will cost us to do it. Cap and Trade may be the wrong solution but we need to start doing something. "
